Choosing a distance band
The premium inside 300 m buys about three hours a day back, the walk to the Mataf, five times over. Whether that is worth ₹45,000 per person over ten nights depends entirely on who is travelling.

What each distance band costs
Inside 300 m: ₹23,000-₹41,000 per room per night. You return to the room between every prayer, which is worth roughly three hours a day.
300-500 m: ₹16,500 per night at Hilton Suites Makkah, the value sweet spot, and the cheapest genuinely walkable option.
800 m-1.5 km: ₹4,900-₹9,500. You are shuttle-dependent. At 1.4 km the real walk is 26 minutes each way, which is two hours a day across five prayers.
Over a 10-night trip the gap between the 90 m hotel and the 1.4 km hotel is about ₹2,90,000 per room, roughly ₹72,000 per person quad-sharing.
Questions to ask before booking a Makkah hotel
Which gate does the walking route use? Distances quoted to different gates are not comparable. King Abdulaziz Gate and King Fahd Gate are on opposite sides.
How often does the shuttle run, and does it run for Fajr? Every 20 minutes is useful; every 45 minutes means waiting outside at 04:15.
Is the rate per room or per person? Package quotes are usually per person; direct hotel rates are per room. Comparing the two without converting is the commonest pricing mistake.
Is breakfast included, and is it a buffet or a box? 'Meals included' most often means breakfast only.
