Umrah on EMI

Three honest ways to spread the cost - and the interest each one really carries.

A ₹78,000 package can be paid as operator part-payments (0% extra), credit-card EMI (13–18% p.a.) or a travel loan (11–16% p.a.). Operator schedules are the cheapest: book 4–6 months early and pay in three stages, with nothing due before visa approval.

How operator part-payment works

  1. Reserve your departure with zero deposit - nothing is payable until your visa is approved.
  2. On visa approval, pay 30–40% to confirm flights and hotels.
  3. Pay the balance in one or two stages, closing 21 days before departure.

Get the schedule in writing on the operator’s letterhead with the cancellation ladder beside it, and pay by bank transfer or card - never cash - so every stage leaves a record.

What to avoid

  • “Interest-free EMI” with a processing fee - a 3–5% fee on a 6-month plan is interest by another name.
  • Committees and BC schemes for Umrah savings: unregulated, and every year some collapse.
  • Paying the full amount before visa approval, on any plan. Rejections happen; your money should not be at risk for them.

Questions

Can I pay for an Umrah package in instalments?

Yes. Most licensed Indian operators run part-payment schedules at no extra cost if you book 4–6 months ahead, and banks offer card EMI or travel loans for shorter notice.

Is Umrah package EMI interest-free?

Operator part-payment schedules genuinely are. Card EMI runs 13–18% p.a. and “no-cost” card offers usually hide a processing fee, so read the total repayable, not the monthly figure.

How much deposit does an Umrah package need?

With operators listed here, nothing until your visa is approved. After approval, 30–40% confirms the booking and the balance closes 21 days before departure.

Do instalment plans work for Ramadan packages?

Yes, but schedules compress: Ramadan batches close payments 30–45 days before departure and waitlist early, so a plan needs to start by October–November.
