What to expect
The climb
A paved but steep stepped path. Carry water, wear grip shoes, and avoid midday heat - most climbers go after Fajr. Not recommended for seniors or anyone with knee or heart conditions.
The cave
The cave itself fits 4–5 people and queues form at the entrance. The Hira Cultural District at the base has an exhibition, cafes and washrooms if you skip the climb.
Should you go?
Visiting carries no ritual reward and is not part of Umrah. Many pilgrims view the mountain from the coach on a Makkah ziyarat tour instead; tours stop at the base, not the summit.
